"Georgia on My Mind.Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow" ...
|
is the theme for the Oleander
District 2003-2005. Similar themes are by June Wood, 38th President of NGC,
Inc.
"Preserving the Past, Forging the Future"
. Also
GCG, 41st President, Jaydee
Ager
, whose theme is
"Georgia on My Mind"
for her term as our State President.
As we celebrate 75 years this year, we have a proud past with many
accomplishments. We still have TODAY, and we must be conscious of the future
to continue our mission of
beautification, conservation, and education.
June Wood, NGC President
, states in her acceptance speech: "We must preserve
those aspects of our organization that are successful today, but we must be
continuously searching for improvement, and be willing to make changes when
change is necessary. There is nothing to be gained by promoting change just for
the sake of making change, but we must always be willing to
COURAGEOUSLY
and
BOLDLY
embrace change when it is needed. Being locked into a mentality of
always doing things a certain way only because 'Ihis is the way we've always
done it" is one sure way to assure that as an
organization we will have no viable future.
We, as a District, need to become open-minded and willing to make changes. We
should change our ideas and attitudes to insure our future in The Garden Club
of Georgia.
